Scottsdale, AZ – Creating a 12,000 square foot daycare with a play area at least as big as the building, as well as envisioning the possibility of turning the space into a future retail center, was the challenge behind Montessori’s design.
The design can accommodate daycare for more than 200 children. The large play area includes a tricycle path, two playground equipment areas and enough grass for a soccer field. The elevations of the building were designed with large areas of glazing to allow maximum daylight into the classrooms.
The glazing can also be converted into separate entrances if the building is transformed into retail shops. If that occurs, future renovations would accommodate ten 20′ x 60′ retail spaces.
