Phoenix, AZ – The Roberts residence was designed for a steep hillside on the south side of South Mountain. The primary construction materials are concrete, steel and glass. The challenges of the site and the unique character of the client contributed to this one-of-a-kind residence.
The house is separated into two wings connected by an enclosed bridge. Between the wings is a small courtyard, a negative-edge pool and a raised patio. The entry is situated in the courtyard, where an elevator transports guests up to the foyer. Expanses of glass open to the rugged desert landscape during the day and the city lights at night. Other unique features include a drive-in theater, cantilevered balconies and a 4-car garage.
